the
Mitzi's
training and instruction encompass every facet of horses and horsemanship, from
the very beginning stages to advanced. Her specialty is "Training the Rider
to Train Their Horse"
Each horse and owner is treated with respect and as an individual. There
is no "cookie cutter" approach to teaching or training.....each horse
rider
combination is treated to an individualized program. The methods used and the
rate at which results are measured varies form horse to horse and person to
person.
Although horses must be respectful of their handlers, every aspect of the
training is non-abusive. Horses have a reason for everything that they do,
and it is up to the trainer to determine the reason and act accordingly.
Because of Mitzi's long experience with almost every type of horse and
discipline of riding, she is able to accommodate every client. It
can be something as basic as a horse refusing to back, or more advanced such as
problems and stiffness with lateral work, jumping, or balance of the rider
during reining work.
Mitzi has gained an excellent reputation in the Untied States, Switzerland, and Germany for working with horses people deem difficult or "bad." She has worked with Mustangs, giving clinics sanctioned by the BLM. using non-abusive techniques....it is a "thinking" skill-understanding why horses act as they do, and how to circumvent poor behavior.
Mitzi is experienced in
T.E.A.M. horse massage, Resistance-free training and is a Bitless
Bridle
Instructor
She wrote Richard Shrake's "BridleWise" column for
several years and has had articles published in
national horse magazines, including a series on Re-Schooling the Thoroughbred
Horse published in Thoroughbred Horse Magazine. She has
also given clinics on re-schooling Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds and American
Saddlebreds for other disciplines.
Among Mitzi's many accomplishments she has shown extensively in jumping, dressage, and in western pleasure circuits. She rode with the Royal Lipizzan Stallion Show as well. She is licensed with the American Judging Association and is known for her expert positive critiques to exhibitors. Mitzi has also studied with the USDP in their Judge's course and has judged in top regional shows in the Northeastern United States.
